Where shorelines host friendly matches at low tide, kids practice penalty kicks between sandcastles, and solo players perfect their footwork under the sun. Whether you’re a seasoned player or a curious newcomer inspired by the World Cup spectacle, our beaches from Ocean City to Cape May Point offer a scenic and spirited way to join the celebration. So, pack your sunscreen, bring a ball, and get ready to kick off your own impromptu oceanfront tournament, World Cup style.
MORE SPORTING EVENTS IN 2026
There are few beaches better designed for seaside sports than The Wildwoods, which offers acres and acres of beach available for organized tournaments and events. Here’s a roundup of all the excitement the destination is hosting this year:
June 27-29 & July 18-20: The Cape Express soccer club hosts an annual five-on-five tournament and this year is expected to draw more teams and spectators than usual as FIFA World Cup 2026™ comes to the USA. Young players shed their cleats for heated games in the sand.
July 11-12: The Wildwoods will host the Battle at the Beach Flag Football tournament for youth and adult teams of up to ten players.
July 25-26: In recent years, ultimate frisbee has gained immense popularity, and the world’s largest beach ultimate frisbee event is held every July on the Wildwood beaches. More than 300 teams from around the world will converge on the resort to compete in four-on-four contests for players of all ages and ability levels.
August 1: Morey’s Mania Beach Wrestling Tournament will have competitors from up and down the East Coast entering the ring on the beach in The Wildwoods and wrestling their way to victory. Of course, all participants are winners because their registration fee also includes a four-day “Ride & Slide” admission to two water parks and all amusement piers at Morey’s Piers.
August 1-2: The Wildwoods hosts a three-on-three basketball tournament on the beach. Dribbling is impossible in the sand but be prepared to see some expert passing and awe-inspiring dunking on the shore.
August 1-2: For the Sticks in the Sand five-on-five field hockey tournament, competitors use traditional sticks but replace the hard rubber ball with a larger, softer rubber ball to execute play on the beach.
